So we've all done the damn "six random things about yourself" meme and are sick of it, but today while I was reading Hamlet I thought HEY, Y'KNOW WHAT WOULD BE COOL? A MEME ABOUT THE THEMES IN OUR STORIES/ARTWORK.

Because let's face it, we all have some thing(s) that make us really want to draw and we use those same devices constantly (I know I do), so in the theme of making a new meme every damn minute, here's this:

List eight themes/ideas/concepts that recur in your stories/writing/drawings/comics.

1. SUPERHEROES: Near as I can tell, I've drawn superheroes as long as I've been able to draw. I'd hazard a guess that's the reason they're still prevalent in my  artwork today.
2. MYTHOLOGY: Fables, myths, legends, gods and monsters. While I'm only an amateur student of world myths, I do find them fascinating on many levels.
3. WOMEN: ...because I find them beautiful.
4. PORTLAND, OREGON: From the time I became interested in creating my own superheroes/comic books, I wanted to use Portland as the environment for those stories. While I didn't move here until I was an adult, I've always considered Portland to be my real home.
5. FASHION: I've little-to-no real fashion cred, but I do have a fannish obsession with high fashion, and like to incorporate bits & pieces from the runway into my characters' costumes & streetwear.
6. SKULLS/SKELETONS: ...because I just like to.
7. LOVECRAFTIAN HORROR: This is a fairly recent addition to my themes. Started reading selected works by HP Lovecraft a couple years ago, and enjoy coming up with visual interpretations of his stories. One I've got planned but not yet realized is a painting of "The Music of Eric Zahn."
8. ESOTERIC PHILOSOPHIES, THEORIES & the ZEITGEIST: This actually shows up more in my writings, but they all become illustrated stories anyway. Again, subjects I'm an amateur student thereof, but I like to incorporate what little bits I pick up into my stories.
